Vancouver to Kelowna and Okanagan Movers

Over the Coquihalla to Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon and Penticton

Kelowna is close enough that a lot of people try it with a rental truck, and far enough that most regret it somewhere past Merritt. Our crews do the Coquihalla run all year, load in the morning and are usually unloading in the Okanagan by late afternoon.

Loading across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley for Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, Vernon, Penticton, Summerland and Kamloops, and moving Interior households back to the coast.

What Size Is Your Okanagan Move?

On a four-hour run, the load size decides whether it is a one-day job or a load-today, unload-tomorrow job. Choose the closest fit.

Studio or a Few Rooms

Small enough to go in one trip, out in the morning and unloaded the same day.

One-Bedroom Apartment

A single truck and two or three movers. Usually finished in one long day.

Two-Bedroom Home

Loaded by midday, over the Connector in the afternoon, unloaded by evening.

Family House

Often loaded on day one and unloaded fresh the following morning.

Kamloops

Straight up the Coquihalla, the quickest of the Interior runs.

Vernon and Penticton

North or south of Kelowna, planned to the same standard.

How the Vancouver to Kelowna Run Works

From Vancouver it is around 390 kilometres: the Trans-Canada to Hope, the Coquihalla to Merritt and the Okanagan Connector (Highway 97C) down into West Kelowna. That is about four hours of driving for a car and a little more for a loaded truck. Kamloops is a straight shot up the Coquihalla, while Penticton is often reached on the Hope-Princeton (Highway 3) instead.

The Connector climbs past 1,700 metres at the Pennask summit, so it can be snowing up top while it is raining in Vancouver. Winter tires and chains are required on these routes from October 1 to April 30, and our trucks run with both.

  • One crew, one day — most apartments are loaded and unloaded by the same movers on the same day.
  • Estimate before booking — based on a survey in person or by video.
  • Numbered inventory — signed at loading, checked off on arrival.
  • Winter equipment — chains and winter tires for the mountain sections.
  • Storage on hand — in Metro Vancouver if your Okanagan date moves.
  • Replacement coverage — protection based on what is loaded.

What Affects the Price of a Move to Kelowna

Volume and Crew Size

The amount you are moving decides the truck and how many movers it takes to load it. A tidy one-bedroom needs two people; a full house with a garage needs three or four.

A move that finishes in one day costs less than one that needs the crew to stay over. Having boxes packed and furniture ready to go is what makes a same-day finish possible.

Exactly Where in the Interior

Kamloops and West Kelowna are the shortest runs. Vernon, Lake Country and Penticton add driving time, and we include it in the estimate.

Hillside homes in the Okanagan can have steep driveways where a full-size truck cannot reach the door. If we know at the survey, we bring the right truck and plan the carry.

Time of Year

Summer is peak season for moves into the Okanagan. Spring and autumn are calmer, the roads are usually clear and dates are easier to get.

Winter storms close the Coquihalla or the Connector a few times most seasons. If that happens the driver waits it out safely or switches routes, and we let you know straight away.

How the Move Works

1. Survey. In person or on video, so we bring the right truck and crew.

2. Estimate. A price and a plan for the day, before you book.

3. Morning load. Wrapped and loaded early, then onto the highway.

4. Afternoon unload. Delivered to the right rooms, beds and tables put back together.

How We Price It

Okanagan moves are priced on the size of the load, the crew it needs and the driving time. Kamloops is the shortest run; Vernon and Penticton take a little longer than Kelowna.

Packing, specialty items and an overnight stay are added only when needed, and each one is shown in the estimate before you book.

How Long It Takes

Most apartments and townhouses are loaded in Vancouver and unloaded in the Okanagan on the same day. Larger homes usually unload the next morning, so the crew starts fresh.

Leave a little slack in winter. Snow on the Coquihalla or the Connector can add a few hours, rarely more.

Vancouver to Kelowna Moving FAQs

How much does it cost to move from Vancouver to Kelowna?

It depends on how much you are moving, how many movers it takes and whether the job finishes in one day. A survey in person or by video gives you an estimate for your actual move.

Yes, for most apartments and smaller homes. Bigger houses are often loaded on the first day and unloaded the next morning.

Yes. Of the Interior runs Kamloops is the quickest, while Vernon and Penticton take a little longer than Kelowna.

For a few pieces of furniture, maybe. With a full home, the rental, fuel, a second driver and a long day of lifting at both ends usually add up to most of what movers cost, without the help on the stairs.

The driver waits for it to reopen or takes another route, and we keep you updated. Closures change timing, not your price.

Yes. We load in the Okanagan and deliver anywhere in Metro Vancouver or the Fraser Valley.
