Vancouver to Victoria Movers, and Back Again
Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay, With the Sailing Already Booked
A move to Victoria is a normal household move with a ninety-five minute boat ride in the middle. That ride is what catches people out: reservations, truck length, terminal waits and the drive down the Saanich Peninsula. We plan the day around it so you are not watching the clock at Tsawwassen.
Loading across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley and delivering to Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, View Royal, Langford, Colwood, Sidney and Sooke. Victoria to Vancouver moves run in the opposite direction on the same plan.

Sizing Your Victoria Move
The amount you are moving decides the truck, and the truck decides the ferry fare. Pick the description closest to your home.
Studio or Small Suite
Quick to load, usually a single morning sailing and an early-afternoon finish.
One-Bedroom Apartment
Out of Vancouver by late morning and unloading in Victoria the same afternoon.
Two-Bedroom Home
A full-size truck and three movers, timed to a midday crossing.
Larger Houses
Often split over two days, crossing late and unloading the next morning.

What Moving to Victoria by Ferry Looks Like
Victoria moves cross on the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route, about an hour and thirty-five minutes on the water. Swartz Bay sits at the top of the Saanich Peninsula, roughly half an hour up the Pat Bay Highway from downtown, and a little longer to the Westshore communities of Langford and Colwood.
Trucks pay by length on BC Ferries and taller vehicles are directed to particular decks, so the crossing is booked for the exact truck we are sending. Summer, long weekends and Sunday afternoons fill first. We reserve as soon as your date is confirmed.
- Ferry booked and included — the fare for the truck and crew is in your estimate.
- One crew, start to finish — no handoff to a different company on the Island.
- Numbered inventory — signed in Vancouver, checked off in Victoria.
- Truck sized to the load — you do not pay to carry empty space across the Strait.
- Storage available — for gaps between the two possession dates.
- Replacement coverage — protection based on what is really on board.
What Affects the Price of a Victoria Move
Time Loading and Unloading
Most of what you pay for is crew time at the two addresses. Boxes packed, taped and labelled before the movers arrive bring the bill down more than anything else you can do.
Ferry Fare and Terminal Time
The crossing is part of the estimate, both the fare and the time the crew spends in the lineup and on board. A shorter truck means a smaller fare, which is why we size it to your load.
Picking the Sailing
Weekday sailings between mid-morning and early afternoon leave room to unload in daylight. A missed sailing on a busy day can mean a two-hour wait, so we plan loading backwards from the departure time.
Stairs and Street Parking
James Bay and Fernwood streets can be narrow, and many older homes have a long carry from the curb. Let us know about parking and steps at the survey so they are covered up front.
Westshore or Peninsula
Sidney is minutes from Swartz Bay. Sooke is well over an hour away. Where you land on the Island adds driving time, and we account for it in the estimate.
Weather and Cancellations
High winds occasionally cancel sailings on this route. When that happens we rebook the next crossing and tell you right away, and it seldom changes the price.

Victoria Moves Loading Across Metro Vancouver
How the Move Works
1. Survey. We see the home in person or on video to choose the truck and crew.
2. Crossing and estimate. A sailing is held and the fare goes into your price.
3. Loading in Vancouver. Padded, wrapped and listed, then down to Tsawwassen.
4. Delivery in Victoria. Off at Swartz Bay, to your door, beds and tables reassembled.
What Goes Into the Price
Victoria moves are priced on crew time at the two addresses plus the crossing, and the ferry fare for the truck and crew is part of the estimate.
Packing, specialty items and long carries from the curb are added when the job calls for them. Westshore and Sooke deliveries take more driving than downtown or the Peninsula, and that is reflected too.
How Long It Takes
Apartments and smaller houses are normally finished in one day. Larger homes often take a second morning, with the truck crossing late on day one.
The busiest ferry days are summer weekends and the start and end of each month. A midweek date gives you the most sailings to choose from.
Vancouver to Victoria Moving FAQs
How much does it cost to move from Vancouver to Victoria?
That depends on the size of the home, access at both ends and where on the Island you are going. The estimate includes the ferry fare for the truck and crew, and you get it after a quick survey.
Which ferry route do movers use for Victoria?
Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay. It is the most direct crossing to Greater Victoria and avoids driving the Malahat from Nanaimo.
Can I ride the ferry with the moving truck?
The crew travels with the truck. Book your own vehicle or foot-passenger reservation on the same sailing or an earlier one so you are at the new place when they arrive.
How far ahead should I book?
Four to six weeks is comfortable for most of the year. For July, August or month-end dates, earlier is better because truck space on the sailings goes first.
Do you do Victoria to Vancouver moves?
Yes. Our movers cross to load in Victoria and unload on the mainland, priced the same way.
Can you store my belongings between move-out and move-in?
Yes. We hold them in Metro Vancouver and deliver to Victoria once your possession date arrives.
