Vancouver to Edmonton Movers

1,160 Kilometres Up the Yellowhead, With a Window You Can Count On

Edmonton sits farther north than most people picture. The fastest road skips Calgary entirely and runs north from Kamloops through Valemount and Jasper, so this move takes a day longer than people expect. Here is what it costs, how long it really runs and what you can do to keep both down.

Loading in Maple Ridge, Coquitlam, Langley, Burnaby, Surrey, Vancouver and the rest of the Lower Mainland, and delivering to Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Leduc and Beaumont. Edmonton to Vancouver runs the same road in reverse.

Sizing Up Your Edmonton Move

Two things set the price here: how much space your things fill in the trailer, and whether you share it. Start with the size closest to your home.

Small Load

A bedroom set, a couch and twenty-odd boxes, consolidated with another move north.

One-Bedroom Suite

Usually travels on a shared trip, the most economical way north.

Two-Bedroom Condo or Townhouse

Full kitchen, laundry pair and a storage cage. Often a third of a trailer.

Three Bedrooms and Up

Basement, garage and the shed. Surveyed in person so nothing is left out of the estimate.

Truck to Yourself

Straight up the Yellowhead with nothing else aboard. Quicker, and priced for the whole trailer.

Crews That Pack

Boxes built and filled for two days on the road, with every carton labelled by room. Learn more →

Short-Term Storage

Possession dates in Alberta slip too. We hold everything until the house is yours. Learn more →

Edmonton to Vancouver

Coming west? Same survey, same pricing, same crews at the BC end.

Office or Shop Moves

A business relocating to Alberta rather than a household. Learn more →

The Road Between Vancouver and Edmonton

Our trucks take the Coquihalla to Kamloops, then Highway 5 north along the North Thompson to Tête Jaune Cache, where it meets the Yellowhead (Highway 16) for the run east through Jasper, Hinton and Edson. That is roughly 1,160 kilometres and around twelve hours behind the wheel, which a loaded truck covers over two days with proper rest.

Going through Calgary instead adds about a hundred kilometres. We only use it when the northern road is closed, and we tell you if we switch.

  • Numbered inventory — signed at loading in BC, checked at the door in Alberta.
  • Two ways to ship — a shared trailer for a lower price, or a truck that runs only for you.
  • Survey before price — on site or by video, so the estimate reflects what is really going.
  • Packed for distance — furniture pads, shrink wrap and load straps on every piece.
  • Flexible storage — in BC before departure or held until Edmonton is ready.
  • Coverage that fits — replacement protection based on what is actually loaded.

What Sets the Price on This Route

The Space You Take Up

Long-distance prices follow volume. Measuring it properly takes a survey, and that protects you from a cheap phone figure that grows on loading day when there is no time left to look elsewhere.

A shared load costs less because the trailer carries more than one household. The trade-off is a longer delivery window. A dedicated truck leaves when you are loaded and arrives on a firmer date.

The Month and the Day

Summer and month-end are the tightest weeks on this corridor. A mid-month date in spring or autumn gives you more options and usually a better price.

A third-floor walk-up in Coquitlam, a condo in downtown Edmonton with a booked elevator, a long driveway in Sherwood Park: each one changes how long the crew spends. Mention them at the survey and they are built into the estimate.

Furniture That Will Not Fit the New Place

If the sectional will not suit the Edmonton floor plan, sell it here. Every piece you leave behind is space you do not pay to send 1,160 kilometres.

From October to April snow and closures near Valemount and through Jasper can stretch the schedule. Weather costs time rather than money, and we keep you updated if the truck has to sit tight.

Edmonton Moves Starting Across Metro Vancouver

Fraser Valley & Ridge Meadows
Maple Ridge, Langley and Abbotsford sit closest to the highway out, so valley pickups are often loaded first.

How the Move Works

1. Walk-through. In person or on video, so the volume and the access are both on record.

2. Price and dates. A cost and a delivery window, agreed before you book.

3. Load-out. Each piece wrapped, strapped and logged on the inventory you sign.

4. Arrival. Unloaded room by room, furniture put back together and the packing waste removed.

How Pricing Works

Long-distance moves to and from the Edmonton region are priced on volume and distance rather than by the hour. The walk-through measures your inventory and notes the access at both ends, so the estimate reflects the real job.

A shared load is the economical option. Packing, storage and difficult access are listed separately in the estimate, so you can see what each one adds.

How Long It Takes

With a dedicated truck, delivery generally comes on the second day after loading. Shared loads arrive within a four to eight day window, depending on how the trailer fills.

Edmonton runs an hour ahead of Vancouver on Mountain Time, so we quote arrival windows in Alberta time to keep everyone on the same clock.

Vancouver to Edmonton Moving FAQs

How much does it cost to move from Vancouver to Edmonton?

That comes down mostly to volume and whether you share the trailer. After a walk-through in person or by video, you get an estimate for your inventory, with packing and storage shown as separate lines.

About two days on the road with a dedicated truck, and a four to eight day delivery window on a shared load. Winter conditions on Highway 5 and through Jasper can add a day.

Yes. Westbound moves are surveyed and priced the same way.

Normally the Coquihalla to Kamloops, Highway 5 north to the Yellowhead and east through Jasper. If that road closes, the driver goes through Calgary instead.

Yes. We can hold your shipment in Metro Vancouver before it leaves, which is usually the cheaper option, and deliver once your possession date is confirmed.

If a piece is cheap to replace and bulky, selling usually wins on a route this long. Heirlooms, good mattresses and quality wood furniture are almost always worth the space.
